Lobsters: Living Shell Knowledge
By Tim Somers on May 6, 2007 in General
What does the lobster’s shell have to tell you? You can purchase lobsters with a range of different shell conditions, but depending on what results you want to see in your live lobsters, you should know the difference in them. For example, many people pick lobsters by how new looking the shell is. If you find small holes or even black markings on the lobster’s shell, you may not want to purchase it. Yet, these things are normal and show that the lobster is an older one. Therefore, mail order lobster that has these small signs of wear and tear is just fine.
On the other hand, you don’t want to consider shipped lobsters that have signs of being uncared for during the shipping process. Lobster delivery should give you fresh lobsters, with the right packing for freshness. What’s more, live lobsters that are shipped shouldn’t have any large signs of damage to the lobster’s shell.
